    NetOp Remote Control Modules

    Guest: Allows a PC to remote control any computer running the Host module. 

    Host: Allows a PC to be remote controlled by any computer running the Guest module. 

    NetOp Gateway Server: A special secure module which acts as an inbound/outbound routing mechanism and firewall for NetOp traffic. 

    NetOp Name Server: NetOp's Domain Name Server registers NetOp names and resolves them into IP addresses for easy, transparent, access to Hosts with Dynamic IP addresses. 

    NetOp Security Server: A unique module which provides centralized security, authentication of users, and logging of NetOp activity to provide your organization with unbeatable security.

    Guest Module

    • NetOp enables you to control multiple PC and operating systemsOperating systems – Windows XP, Server 2003, 2000, Terminal Services, NT 4.0, ME, 98, 95; Windows CE, Linux, Symbian OS and ActiveX (e.g. in Internet Explorer) via selected protocols. 
    • Control Host desktops – view desktops in full-screen, scalable or windowed mode. Auto-scroll feature available for host screens larger than the viewing window.
    • Control command prompts – command prompts can be viewed in full-screen or windowed mode.
    • Session user interface – offers independent session windows and a floating session toolbar with the following options: Other session types, Hang up, Connection properties, Full screen/windowed, Send Ctrl+Esc, Send Ctrl+Alt+Del, Restart Host PC, Send clipboard, Receive clipboard, Marker mode, Blank display and Lock keyboard and mouse. 
    • Transfer clipboard – send and receive text and graphics.
    • Marker mode – annotate host screens remotely.
    • File transfer – the powerful, interactive, split-screen File Manager offers drag-and-drop functionality. Features available: copy, move, synchronize, cloning, crash recovery, delta transfer, select files/directories, inverse selections, full progress metering, history list, hot-keys, transfer log and "tree-view" log viewer. File Manager works on local drives.
    • Audio and text chat – communicate with host users verbally or by text chat. Guest can send text messages and alerts to Host users.
    • Run program – launch commands/applications on host PCs remotely. Prepare commonly used applications. Also launch applications from command line (within other applications) or from the NetOp phonebook.
    • Execute command – log-off, shut down, restart, lock computer or wake-on-LAN hosts remotely.
    • Call multiple hosts – link to multiple hosts simultaneously with a single command.
    • Hierarchical address book – organize your remote PCs in a scalable, multi-level folder structure for easy access. The address book’s connection files can be shared among multiple users across the network. Import/export feature is available for exchanging data with other systems.
    • Quick connect – call hosts via a browse list or directly using the relevant address.
    • Current connections – list the running sessions and start or stop sessions.
    • History list – contains a connection file for each session in the past. Host can also save session history. Can be copied to the address book.
    • Help request – host users can request help from multiple guests at the touch of a button. View all incoming requests. A sound file is played and alert window appears when a help-request arrives. You can substitute this file with a customized file.
    • Session recording – It is possible to record and review past remote-control sessions.
    • Scripting utility – Start or schedule file transfers and launch programs automatically from an easy-to-use user interface or batch script language. An ActiveX component is available for programming languages supporting OLE automation, for example Visual Basic.
    • Flexible user interface – customize the guest interface by showing only the needed tabs and toolbars. Copy connection files to your desktop for easy access or use the Windows Explorer directly to start NetOp sessions. File associations for connection, recording and script files are created during installation.
    • Keyboard handling – compensates for different keyboard layouts between Guest and Host computers.
    • Authentication – to automate the log-in process, the Guest users can ‘Use current log-in credentials for Windows Security authentication.
    • Maintenance password – password-protect the Guest configuration.
    • Deployment utility – remotely install host modules on Windows NT and 2000, or update Host modules on any 32-bit Windows platform. This is a separate module licensed with the Guest module.
Host Module
  • Host connectivity – supports Windows XP, Server 2003, 2000 (including 2000 Pro, 2000 Server & 2000 Advanced Server), Terminal Services, NT 4.0, NT 3.51, NT 3.1, ME, 98, 95, 3.1x, CE, Linux, Sun Solaris, DOS and OS/2 4.x-1.3. Connect to a Host PC via IP or Domain Name user-defined ID, IP or MAC address, environment variable, Windows computer name, DNS name or even Windows Logon name. (connect to CE & Linux via IP address of domain name) 
  • Local authentication – set a default password for all Guest users, or alternatively set individual guest IDs and passwords for each user. 
  • Centralized authentication – the system offers a total centralized security regime using the Windows NT SAM database, Microsoft Active Directory or NetOp Security Server. 
  • Security roles – set different security roles limiting what Guest users can see or do on Host computers, depending on the role they are assigned. Security roles can be managed locally or centrally via the NetOp Security Server. 
  • Confirm access – Host users can allow or deny Guest access.
  • Stealth mode – Host module presence can be hidden from others.
  • MAC/IP address check – filter access based on Guest’s MAC or IP address.
  • Action after hang-up – restart, log-off or lock workstations after disconnecting.
  • Notification – host users can request to be alerted by message or tone when being accessed by a Guest user.
  • Host names – identify the host by user-defined ID, Windows computer name, MAC/IP address and Windows log-on name, with or without domain name prefix. Reveal or hide the name(s) from Guests browsing the network.
  • Host Inactivity time-out
  • Co-existence – enables Host and Student modules (NetOp School) to work simultaneously.
  • Cascade remote control – start a Guest on the controlled PC and call another Host.
  • Requesting help – Host users can request help from multiple Guests at the touch of a button. Customize help request with a pre-defined message, specific help provider service, timeout and specific communication protocol. A request help icon can be added to the tray, even when the Host runs in stealth mode.
  • Host Service – the Host can run as a service allowing remote sessions before log-on.
  • Maintenance password – password-protect the Host configuration, stop and exit of Host program. Lock configuration files while connected or waiting for connection.
Gateway Module
  • Special Host – contains all the functionality available in the standard Host module. 
  • Multi-protocol router – Gateway lets you route NetOp traffic in the following ways: dial-in, dial-out, WAN-to-LAN, LAN-to-LAN. 
  • Dial-in security – default or individual security settings with guest ID, password and call-back.
  • Routing authentication - supports local, Windows NT SAM database and Microsoft Active Directory authentication.
Name Server Module
  • Special Host – contains all the functionality available in the standard Host module. 
  • Centralized name management – registers Guest/Host names and IP addresses. Resolves names into IP addresses upon request.
  • Name space ID – allows you to define private name spaces.
  • Public Name Servers – two public Name Servers provided free of charge..
Security Server Module
  • Special Host – contains all the functionality available in the standard Host module.
  • Centralized security management – authentication against any ODBC based database.
  • Fault-tolerant authentication – supports multiple Security Servers.
  • Easy maintenance of security configuration – security settings are changed from the Security Manager module.
  • Integrate Windows Domain information – accepts Windows Domain users and groups.
Common for all Modules (Windows XP, 2000, NT, 98, 95, ME)
  • Communication – supports all commonly used communication protocols, including TCP, UDP, IPX, NetBIOS, Windows modem, CAPI, Dial-up networking, Serial or IrDA.
  • Communication options – optional keep-alive message, inactivity timeout, auto-select TCP / UDP port, multi-protocol support, obtain list of IPX networks, call back based on guest ID / password, A-number check (ISDN CAPI only).
  • Extensive event logging – log NetOp activity to a local file, the NetOp Security Server, Windows Event Log or to a SNMP enabled management console.
  • Log events – keep track of more than 100 different NetOp events.
  • User profiles – stores the adjustable user settings in the profile path.
  • Strong encryption – choose between 7 different levels to protect NetOp sessions with up to 256 bit keys AES encryption, 256 bit SHA HMACs integrity check and 2048 bits Diffie-Hellman key exchange. 6.x/5.x compatible mode is available for communication with previous NetOp modules.
  • Remote print – Applications running on the host PC can be printed out on the Guest’s printers, and vice versa.
  • Versatile installation – NetOp is easily installed and deployed even on very large networks thanks to the numerous installation methods available. Choose between Windows Installer, InstallShield or Silent Install.

  • Multi-lingual packages – NetOp Remote Control and all accompanying electronic literature are available in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portuguese.
Common for all Modules (Windows CE, Linux, Solaris, Symbian OS)
  • Communication – all platforms (except Symbian) support TCP and UDP. Symbian supports TCP only.
  • Installation - Windows CE is installed with InstallShield and MS ActiveSync. Linux can use Redhat Packet Manager or zipped tar. Solaris uses zipped tar. Symbian OS uses Nokia's PC Suite for installation.
